Lenco celebrates sale of one millionth turntable

Venlo/Hong Kong, April 14th, 2008 – Since Dutch STL Group took over Lenco in 1997, the latter has sold one million turntables worldwide. To celebrate this milestone, the one millionth turntable, a Lenco L 78 with special golden finishing, was unveiled at a festive gathering in Hong Kong. Afterwards, this unique device was handed over to the Christian Action, a Hong Kong charity organization which will auction it off and use the profits to fund its projects.
During the ceremony, President and CEO of Lenco Nico Brabers, commented on the fact that the LP never completely disappeared and even seems to be making a comeback. “On the one hand, there is a market of music lovers who never really abandoned the turntable, and who are buying our modern players with USB-computer connection. On the other hand there are many people who, for years, didn’t listen to their LP’s but who are now converting their music from vinyl to digital formats, all thanks to the existing connection possibilities with their pc’s.
And last but not least, there is a group of consumers that prefers vinyl music to the digital kind.”
Lenco made a name for itself by producing high quality turntables, valued now by many music lovers all over the world. “The turntable still ranks among our showpieces. Lenco currently carries a number of advanced turntables in its assortment. Among these, the cord powered L78 turntable with USB connection is the latest model. This half automatic is equipped with an aluminum plateau, guaranteeing stability and two speeds (33 and 45). This device sports a built-in booster and comes with software.
